The objectives of the project are to implement and verify a new concept of wastewater treatment using symbiotic algae and bacteria colonies in real for effluents treatment and production of biomass and for its further valorisation. The main innovation is transfer of mostly lab scale tests to technical scale operation for effluent treatment in paper, agro-food & meat processing industry and for municipal effluent treatment. Implementation of the proposed solutions should not only lead to decreased costs of wastewater treatment and subsequent sludge disposal, but also to biomass valorisation in biogas production. Project is expected to generate advantages for a number of enterprises in the sector of water management, biotechnology and renewable energy sources.
Members of the project consortium are Papiertechnische Stiftung and Institut für Abwasserwirtschaft, TU Hamburg-Harburg (Germany), CELABOR (Belgium) and CREA Hydro&Energy, o.s. and AQUA PROCON s.r.o. (Czech Republic).
Project is implemented within the ERA-NET /CORNET programme. CORNET is a network of ministries and funding agencies in Europe which are owners or managers of national and regional funding programmes for collective research between small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), their associations and Research and Technology Organisations (RTOs) across Europe. Cluster CREA Hydro&Energy receives funding from the Operational Programme Enterprise and Innovations of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of The Czech Republic.
Project duration: January 2013 to December 2014.
