Within the project AOP4WATER, use of ozone in combination with other advanced oxidation processes (AOPs as hydrogen peroxide, UV light and ultrasound) with subsequent biological treatment is tested on industrial and municipal wastewater. The aim of the project is to enable water (re-)use and water recycling in paper and textile industry and considerably reduce costs of the treatment. Other advantages will be minimisation production of sludge and potentially toxic substances. These are presumptions for broader use of the technology in production and for increase of competitiveness of paper and textile companies.
Members of the project consortium are Papiertechnische Stiftung (Germany), CELABOR (Belgium), Gospodarska zbornica Slovenije, University of Ljubljana and Institut za Vode Republike Slovenije (Slovenia) and CREA Hydro&Energy, o.s. and AQUA PROCON s.r.o. (Czech Republic). Project is executed within an ERA-NET/CORNET scheme. CORNET is a network of ministries and funding agencies in Europe which are owners or managers of national and regional funding programmes for collective research between small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), their associations and Research and Technology Organisations (RTOs) across Europe. Cluster CREA Hydro&Energy receives funding from the Operational Programme Enterprise and Innovations of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of The Czech Republic.
Project duration: January 2011 to June 2013.
