International conference EXPO Water in landscape

On Tuesday March 21, together with the Mendel University in Brno and the South Moravian Region, we organized the International Conference EXPO Water in the Landscape in Krtiny. The conference was held under the auspices of the governor of JMK Jan Grolich and was attended by deputy governor Jan Zamecnik. The conference was devoted to the topics of hydrology and drought, vocational education and smart water solutions.

In the first section Petr Janal from Czech hydrometeorological institute presented monitoring and warning system for drought, Jan Oprchal from GEOtest showed the application of living landscape model for adapting the landscape to climate change and David Vesely presented active approach of Povodi Moravy to the challenge of drought in the Morava River basin.

In the second part, Pieter Hoekstra from CIV Water described vocational education system in Friesland and Petr Kupec from Mendel University in Brno presented practical education using Waterlab in the forest.

The last part was mainly focused on digitization in water management, when Jiri Hodak from VODNI DILA – TBD presented the digital twin of the dam and Milan Fischer from CzechGlobe the digital twin of the Thaya River basin – assessing the impacts of land use change, climate change and the adaptation measures.

The conference was held as an output of the action plan of the iWATERMAP project and was financially supported by the OP PIK program and the South Moravian Region.
