Yesterday March 21, together with the Mendel University in Brno and the South Moravian Region, we organized the International Conference EXPO Water in the Landscape in Křtiny. The conference was held under the auspices of the governor of JMK Jan Grolich and was attended by deputy governor Jan Zámečník. The conference was devoted to the topics of hydrology and drought, vocational education and smart water solutions. In the first section Petr Janál from Czech hydrometeorologický institute presented monitoring and warning system for drought, Jan Oprchal from GEOtest showed the application of living landscape model for adapting the landscape to climate change and David Veselý presented active approach of Povodí Moraví to the challenge of drought in the Morava River basin. In the second part, Pieter Hoekstra from CIV Water described vocational education system in Friesland and Petr Kupec from Mendel University in Brno presented practical education using Waterlab in the forest. The last part was mainly focused on digitization in water management, when Jiří Hodák from VODNÍ DÍLA – TBD presented the digital twin of the dam and Milan Fischer from CzechGlobe the digital twin of the Thaya River basin – assessing the impacts of land use change, climate change and the adaptation measures.
The conference was held as an output of the action plan of the iWATERMAP project and was financially supported by the OP PIK program and the South Moravian Region.
